Alpine Garden Society - East Lancashire Local Group

Founded in December 1986, the East Lancashire Local Group has developed into one of the foremost alpine groups in the country, holding regular monthly meetings at the Ramsbottom Civic Hall (usually on a Monday evening at 7.45pm). The group plays host to the nation's leading growers, nurserymen and exhibitors and meetings, which attract enthusiasts from all over the north-west of England, feature illustrated lectures; plant, seed and book sales; refreshments, a raffle and free parking.

We welcome newcomers to this wonderful form of gardening and this very friendly group is a happy mix of experts, less experienced growers and absolute beginners.

Although meetings start at 7.45pm the doors are open from 7pm onwards for plants sales and a good old chitchat - the social side of alpine gardening is just as important to our members as the horticultural attractions.

With this in mind the group organise garden open days, practical workshops and wonderful summer trips to nurseries, private gardens and centres of alpine excellence.

Meetings are held each month from September through to May and include non-lecture events such as a digital photography competition, a group mini-show and a social evening with refreshments and bar.Details of all our meetings for the 2011 - 2012 season are listed below and further information can be obtained from Group Secretary; Cliff Booker Tel. 01706 356385 E-Mail bookcliffo@aol.com
