Are there any
Ramsbottom residents out there who remember the good times we had as
youngsters at St Paul’s Sunday school?
As well as Bible
study and fellowship at the Sunday meetings, there was also the
enjoyment of taking part in regular church events such as
Pantomimes, Rose Queens, Beatle Drives, and Harvest Festivals, just
to mention a few.
There were also
the Spring and Autumn fairs which had entertainment and competitions
to enter, and in addition to these there were evening events which
not only brought families and friends together but gave the children
something to do which kept them from all the negative activities
associated with boredom and lack of stimulation.
This last point
brings me to the purpose of this letter.
Kim Steel, (a
detective with our local police force), and myself, Joyce Wild, (a
recently retired cardio technical assistant), are re-establishing
the St, Paul’s Sunday School. This is with the encouragement and
support of our Vicar, the Rev. Jeff Arcus and our church family.
Apart from our
main objective, which is to make the children aware of the love of
Jesus and all he can come to mean in their lives, this is a
wonderful opportunity to enlarge our church family for the future
and also encourage children to take part in group events which will
give them something to look forward to instead of hanging around on
street corners and car parks.
If this message
has stirred up any good memories for you, then please bring
yourselves and your partners and encourage your children,
grandchildren, nephews, nieces and even your neighbours children to
come along and join us at 11am Sunday mornings at St Paul’s
Ramsbottom.
Remember, the
children of today, are the future of tomorrow!
