VILLAGE EXTRAVAGANZA A fundraising extravaganza will take place on Saturday 18h May at Stubbins Memorial Gardens from 7am to 7pm and the MAIN EVENT is a sponsored 1.2 mile circuit around Stubbins, Strongstry & Chatterton. There will be all sorts of other sideshows throughout the day, including a 'Bake a Cake' competition, for details click here.
St Philip’s Church Council and Stubbins Residents Association are staging the extravaganza on to raise much needed funds to refurbish the Church Hall.
The church hall has been erected for some years now and although some work has been carried out over the years it has been decided that a full refurbishment project is needed so that is can be utilised more. The hall is currently used by The Learning Tree for before and after school clubs, Age UK hold regular meetings and the Uniformed Groups (Beavers, Cubs & Scouts) meet weekly. The church hall is currently non-compliant with the disability act as it is lacking disabled toilet facilities. The church council last year replaced the windows and this has greatly reduced the heating bills, so any further work will be beneficial to anybody that uses the hall for events.
