I'm a Swedish subject and I lived in Rambottom from 1967 to 1976 when me and my family moved back to Sweden. I would like to get in touch with friends from that time, mainly from the Carr Bank area. My name is Ulla Hagstrom but when I lived in Ramsbottom my family name was Woodrow.

We are looking for our friend William Thomas who originates from Ramsbottom.  It would be great to hear from him after so long to find out if he's still in Ramsbottom or not.  Will is probably in his late 30's by now.  We miss you Willy! Love David and Orla.

I am looking for some information on an old friend of mine who took me in when I lived in Ramsbottom in my teens, going back around 20 years ago. His name is Jovo Raseta, lived in, Bolton Street, Ramsbottom. I don't know if he is still about now, but any information would be appreciated. Last contact I had with him, he opened his own washing machine repair business in Rammy,  He drank in the Royal Oak and was about 6ft tall with hands like shovels!! I'd say he would be 50 or 60 years old now!  I'd just like to get in touch.

I am trying to locate a person called Christine Haworth (maiden name) who will be about 67 years of age.  Around 1960, she lived near the railway station and attended Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammer School, was in the netball team, and had a friend called Shelby Marcroft.

I am looking for any information on the McGrails or O'Rourke families that might have lived in Ramsbottom in the mid 1800s. My great grandmother, Margaret Alice McGrail Nevins (daughter of Jane Agnes O'Rourke Mcgrail and Patrick McGrail) was born in Ramsbottom in June of 1882. She and her parents were ethnically Irish. Her parents were believed to have been domestic servants. They emmigrated to the US in 1884 or 1885. Margaret appears to have emmigrated in the company of her grandmother Kathryn Smith O'Rourke to join her parents in Rhode Island in 1887. I am hoping to solve a family mystery: Jane and Patrick McGrail had 11 children, but only four survived. All but Margaret were born in the United States. I believe that the seven "missing" children were born between 1873 and 1881 in England. What I hope to learn is if they all died as infants or if perhaps there was a family tragedy which occurred in England (probably Ramsbottom) that took the lives of these children. Anyone know where I might find records or old newspapers from the area that might help? Thanks so much!
