Golden Jubilee Celebrations

During the years 1950 - 52, several events took place in Ramsbottom celebrating the Festival of Britain, the Accession and Coronation of the Queen. In those days and indeed up until 1973, Ramsbottom was responsible for its own destiny as The Ramsbottom Urban District Council. This was reflected in the public spirited festivals and celebrations at the time. Nowadays, it is left to enthusiastic individuals and businesses to revive that spirit. Over the last few years, events have been organised with some success, thanks to the Ramsbottom Heritage Society, Ramsbottom Chamber of Trade (now Ramsbottom and Tottington Business Forum) with the support of Bury Metropolitan Borough and the 'Six Town' Area Co-ordinators.
