The Ramsbottom Heritage Centre is run by the
Ramsbottom Heritage Society. During the winter months members
have been busy preparing a brand
new exhibition, that is to say the display is new but some of the artifacts are
themselves quite old. The new exhibition is now open to the public
each weekend and a addition to the popular 'Great Grandma's Kitchen' which
remains on display from previous exhibitions, there
are displays relating pre-historic times. The centre piece focuses on a
Bronze Age Cairn located at Whitelow, a mile or so to the east of the
town. Other items on display
include photographs of local events that have taken place over recent
years. The centre also has a wide range of books on local
history as well as there own publications which will appeal to anyone
interested in exploring the locality.
The centre, located on Carr St. (Map
Ref. 4) is open at weekends
throughout the summer between the hours of 1.00pm and 4.30pm.
See our 'ORGANISATIONS' page for further details
and the 'EVENTS' page for details of meetings.

Do
you fancy a bit of a ramble ....?
How about .... a
springtime saunter, a guided tour round that district you’ve always wanted
to explore, a close look with an historical theme, a two hour trip with an
expert or a Sunday afternoon stroll with autumnal colour?
A
series of shortish walks has been devised for the summer ~ the third
Sunday in the month ~ looking at certain parts of Ramsbottom, Holcombe,
Holcombe Brook, Stubbins and Summerseat.
Be dressed for walking: strong shoes or
boots, and be prepared for sun, rain or cold weather. Maybe bring a light
snack to eat somewhere around the circuit.

All are welcome. Hope to see you.
Distances are
from 2 to 4 miles.
Times are about
2 hours starting at 2pm
